Boris Bio – Brasserie Licorne SAS

So I have walked past this brew at a variety of LCBOs for a few months now.  I finally decided to pick one up and give it a try.  Why was I reluctant?  Well, to be honest, I don’t really like Boris (regular style).  It’s not bad, it just doesn’t taste like much.  I might not be able to pick it out of a line-up, along with Heineken and Stella.  But, I’m all for trying new things, and I like to support organic efforts, so with that in mind:

Boris Bio

Boris Bio

From a 500ml tallboy with a freshness date stamped on the bottom, the beer is golden yellow and crystal clear.  Fluffy head drops to a ring pretty quickly, but lingers, and leaves a little lace.  The aroma is all malts.  Grainy with a touch of caramel.  There is actually a nice enough bit of hop to the taste, a little earthy, slightly tannic. Grains are there again, a little sweet, but with less of a caramel taste.   Everything clears out pretty quickly, with just a hint of the hops on the finish.  Smooth and light bodied, with a mild carbonation.  Super-drinkable, not complicated, quite surprising, given my past experiences with the regular Boris.
